User acceptance for circular resource efficiency
The research of Juana focuses on understanding how can consumer and user requirements be balanced with circularity criteria to improve acceptance of the circular economy. To achieve this, three main issues are explored: (1) what is the role of consumers and users in the circular economy, (2) what are the factors that influence their acceptance of different circular economy business models and (3) what design strategies can help balance circularity criteria and user/consumer requirements for specific circular value propositions. The research uses inputs from a variety of fields including environmental psychology, practice theory, consumer culture theory and design for sustainability to build a theoretical and methodological approach to solve such questions. By providing these answers this research aims at contributing to the design of circular value propositions that are welcomed by customers while delivering the benefits of closing the material loops.
